The former President Trump was almost assassinated at a rally in Butler PA on Saturday evening, 13 July 2024.
Expect to see countless articles on the left’s violent rhetoric, a refusal to provide adequate resources to Trump’s US Secret Service detail, the abject failure of the USSS to secure the rally area and calls to turn down the political temperature.
In my estimation, articles like this one will be very rare.
I will be making a very different call to action.
You may not agree with it.
You may even be offended, but IMO, it needs to be made.
They all fall down
We’ve all seen how Biden falls down.
The mockingbird media attempted to use an assassination attempt to say:
“Look, Trump fell down at a rally, just like Biden.”
In their inimitable style, the mockingbird media were, in turn, mocked by the Babylon Bee:
Trump falls down
Within the millions of social media posts flying around in the last 48 hours, I’d like to draw your attention to the following:
At precisely the moment Trump tilted his head to read an immigration chart, the assassin fired his shot.
“The border patrol saved my life,” he said. “If I hadn’t pointed at that chart and turned my head to look at it, that bullet would have hit me right in the head.”
Here is the full conversation between Trump and his former doctor Ronny Jackson. It also includes a super slow-motion video of his head tilt and the bullet piercing his ear.
Trump did indeed drop to his knees following his brush with death.
Only Trump knows his deepest thoughts at that time.
Did his life flash before his eyes? He has suffered through two fabricated impeachments, untold media smears, numerous indictments and convictions. Did he now realise that God had allowed all of these trials to humble the braggadocious NY businessman? Perhaps that was not yet enough? Did Trump also need to understand his mortality and recognise God’s sovereignty in his life and his Presidency? Like king Cyrus (Isaiah 45), will Trump truly humble himself and recognise the hand of God on his life? Will 45 become a good President (47) and stand for righteousness?
Donald Trump Truthed this the next day.
Evil falls down
In the book of 1 Samuel Chapter 5, we read about what happened when the Philistines placed the captured Ark of the Covenant of Israel into the temple of their god Dagon.
“But when they arose early the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord. And the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off on the threshold; only the trunk of Dagon was left to him.”
Evil cannot stand in the presence of the Almighty.
You and I fall down
You and I – we’ve all sinned and deserve God’s punishment.
Mercifully, He provided a remedy through the good news of His salvation – the gospel of righteousness through Jesus Christ.
We all fall down
So, how should we respond to what happened? How do God-fearing people win this violent, ugly culture war with the left? Do we leave it to our leaders to pass good laws? Will that be enough?
We saw how the young Jewish king Josiah (2 Kings 23) destroyed the altars of Baal and tore down the Asherah poles, instructing Israel to turn back to God. But it was to no avail. The hearts of the people were still wicked. They really wanted to continue worshipping the foreign gods. So God deported Israel to Babylon for 70 years.
There is no doubt that lies must be countered by truth and the average person cannot remain silent (as we have done in the past). But even that may be shallow. In his movie “Let my People Go” former Law Professor David Clements offered Trump and all of us some sage advice:
Please watch from 1:53:00
Will we do what’s necessary?
Are we willing to meet God’s conditions?
Will Trump respond to the good Professor’s call?
Do we have time?
The apostle Paul did not mince his words. In his letter to the church in Rome (Rom 1:18-23), (circa 60 AD) Paul describes how God’s patience had just about run out with an empire that had embraced foreign gods and become totally corrupt.
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, …. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.”
and Paul goes on to provide God’s response to this:
“24 Therefore God gave them over …
26 For this reason God gave them over …
28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over …”
Just like a car on a slope, God let the handbrake go on Rome.
We saw the end of Roman civilisation. Social conditions and morality in the West today don’t seem to be much different. How fast is the car speeding? Are we near the edge of the cliff?
How will we respond to what’s happening in our world today? Do you just numb ourselves with the idiot box or turn to the bottle?
No! Let’s pray that both we and our leaders humble ourselves before God, before it’s too late!
